Overcome Your (Twitter) Limitations!

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

If you’re using Twitter as a revenue-generator, you may already have hit the frustrating 2000-follow limit. If not, you will soon. Yes, Twitter limits you to following 2000 people, that is, unless 2000 people are following you.

The trick is to regularly delete those who you follow but aren’t following you back. Here’s a quick and easy way to do it, absolutely free of charge:

Go to Twellow and register for free.

You’ll need your Twitter ID and password, as this system will access your Twitter account. Go through the safety steps of verifying your account just as they instruct. Once your account is setup and you’re logged in, continue.

At the top of the main page are some blue tabs. Click the one called “Friends.” A list of everyone you follow appears. A little graphic by each indicates whether they are following you back.

For everyone who is not following you, click on the red “unfollow” button. They are adjusted in your Twitter account real time. There may be people you want to follow whether or not they follow you back, so be sure to do this carefully. Soon you’ll have your “friends” number down close to your “followers” number, which will allow you to add more to your friends list in hopes of getting them to follow you back and increase your followers list. After all, these are the ones you want to market to.

Keep doing this, waiting a few days in between working the Twellow lists to give your new friends time to follow you back. I usually wait a whole week. Soon your followers number will reach 2000, and you’ll be able to have more than the 2000 limit of friends.

Twellow is a great place to find friends, too, as they have “tweeple” categorized by their self-stated interests. You can find people interested in your niche, and they can find you. Explore around a while, and you’ll see a lot of great features for your Twitter marketing efforts . . . and all for free!
