Domain Names

One of the first things you'll need is a domain name. This is the name people type into their browsers in order to get to your site. This is a very important step and shouldn't be taken lightly! You want a name that is descriptive, not too long, memorable and matches your content, preferably containing your primary keyword. Once you think of a good name, your chances of finding that it's already taken are pretty great, so have a few good alternatives ready.

Then you need to reserve that name and make sure all Internet servers all over the world know how to get to you. This sounds hard, but is very easy. You just need to register your chosen name with a domain registrar. Here are links to some of the top registrars. The best prices can be had with higher quantity or lengthier purchases:

Hosting Sources

Next you need to shop around for a good website host. This will depend a lot on your own requirements. Keep an eye on our blog for articles on finding good hosting. In the meantime, here are a couple that meet the requirements for most, have great up-time histories, and are fairly priced:

And finally, you'll need the software to create and publish a site, or find and hire someone to do that for you. We'll be getting into this topic a great deal in the coming months, but for now, please know there are many great products on the market. Two I've tried and can personally recommend are:

Dimesale Script

This is one of those "oldies, but goodies" we like to bring up every now and then. If you've been exploring the world of Internet marketing for any time now, you've probably seen dimesale scripts in action. They involve sales pages in which the price goes up little by little, either based on time or on number of sales.

This is a great way to have a quick sale, or to test the popularity of a new product or sales page. See how much people are willing to pay. If you've wanted to try this out, here's a good script at a reasonable price. Yes, it takes some script installation, but don't let that scare you. This comes with good instructions, as well as a community of users and the owners ready to assist.

Website Templates

In looking for some high-quality, low-priced tools for you, I ran across an outstanding deal on some really decent website templates. If, like me, you're somewhat graphically challenged, this will help you get your website up without the headaches of the cgraphics design part.

They are fairly simple, in that they don't include css files (Cascading Style Sheets) and there is only one basic template page. However, they are pretty easy to adjust as needed and come with the image files you need. They are attractively designed with many different layouts and colors to choose from.
